4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BANKING AND FINANCE PERSPECTIVES

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of Banking and Finance held the “4th International Conference on Banking and Finance Perspectives” which commenced with an opening ceremony at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 2 May 2019. The event that was organised with the contributions of the TRNC Central Bank, hosted over 120 academicians from 25 different countries, all of whom have expertise in the field of banking and finance. 

The ceremony was attended by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, Rauf Denktaş University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Bıçak, Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) member Prof. Dr. Hasret Balcıoğlu, EMU Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Prof. Dr. Seldjan Timur, Department of Banking and Finance Chair Prof. Dr. Nesrin Özataç, Cass Business School in London academic staff member Prof. Dr. Thorsten Beck, IPAG Business School academic staff member Prof. Dr. Duc Khuong Nguyen, TRNC Central Bank representative Hayri Bender, Vice-Deans, Department Chairs, academicians and students.

The two-day Conference on Banking and Finance Perspectives hosted 15 parallel sessions during which 80 presentations were delivered by academicians from 25 different countries. Efficient monetary policies that central banks need to implement in in times of financial market fluctuations, volatility models, the importance of inspection and overseeing, Islamic banking, micro finance and capital markets, capital structure of firms, economic development and energy economics were among the discussion topics of the conference.
