Organized by the Faculty of Business and Economics at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), the “Career Over Coffee” event took place in the faculty garden with the support of sponsors Oza Coffee, Vola, Koop Bank, and Credit West. Held for the seventh time this year, the event brought together students and industry representatives, fostering valuable exchanges on career planning.
The event was attended by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Secretary General Derviş Ekşici, Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Mustafa Besim, as well as department heads, administrative managers, academic and administrative staff, and many students.
“More Than 30 Companies Participated in the Event”
In his opening speech, Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Besim emphasized that the “Career Over Coffee” event has been growing and becoming more institutionalized each year, noting that this years event was further enriched by the participation of numerous companies and sponsors. He stated that it is a source of great satisfaction that companies now seek information and request participation without waiting for invitations. Prof. Dr. Besim highlighted that education is not limited to the classroom, but that direct interaction with industry representatives is crucial for students’ professional development. He added that more than 30 companies from sectors such as banking, tourism, construction, real estate, human resources, and technology participated this year, offering students broad opportunities for engagement, internships, and career planning.

“The University’s Aim Is Not Only to Graduate Students”
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated in his speech that the university’s main goal is not merely to graduate students with diplomas, but to prepare them for life by supporting their professional and personal development. He emphasized that events like Career Over Coffee are an important part of this vision and highlighted the need for students to continuously improve themselves and enhance their knowledge and skills throughout their education. Prof. Dr. Kılıç underlined that the university aims to equip students for both professional and social life and stressed the importance of expanding such events across the university.

At the stands set up during the event, companies from various sectors had the opportunity to engage directly with students. Participating companies shared career opportunities, internship possibilities, and insights into their professional life, increasing students’ awareness of the business world. During the event, certificates of appreciation were also presented to participating companies by Dean Mustafa Besim.






As part of the program, experienced speakers met with students during seminars. In the first seminar, Ayşe Niyazi Onar and Hidayet Serdar emphasized the importance of self-awareness in one’s career journey with their presentation titled “Lost, Scapegoat, or G.O.A.T.? Who Will You Be?” In the second seminar, Niyal Öztürk delivered a talk titled “Your Future Employer… Could Be You,” sharing valuable insights on entrepreneurship and personal development.


The event concluded with the presentation of participation certificates to seminar attendees. The Career Over Coffee event attracted great interest from students and provided participants with a valuable experience both socially and professionally.
