Former Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Labor and Social Security Minister Zeki Çeler was a guest of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) “Public Talks” event which was organized by the Business and Economics Faculty in collaboration with the Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (MİKA).
At the event which commenced at 10:30 at the Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tahiroğlu Hall on Wednesday, the 22nd of May 2019, Çeler delivered a presentation titled “Career Path” during which he stated that he is very happy to be with EMU students on his last day as the TRNC Labor and Social Security Minister.
EMU Business and Economics Faculty, Department of Political Science and Public Administration graduate Çeler shared his experiences at the university from registration to graduation with those in attendance. Going on to address how he entered into politics and what he experienced as a young politician Çeler indicated that he has fulfilled all of his goals up to now and that his next goal is to become the first EMU graduate TRNC President.
Expressing that one doesn’t need to be rich or from a good family to be successful, Çeler highlighted the importance of bravery whilst advising students to follow their dreams and never give up. After recommending that students listen to their hearts Çeler accepted questions from audience.
At the end of the event Çeler was presented a silver plate by EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Business and Economics Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Selcan Timur and MİKA Director Derviş Ekşici. The talk was attended by many students, EMU Department of Banking and Finance Chair Prof. Dr. Nesrin Özataç and members of academic staff.
